Making Periods Awesome for Us AND the Environment

Greening the Red is the brainchild of two BIPOC vagina owners: Hope Cheeks and Tarita Thomas. Our goal is to cultivate a like-minded network of both vagina and non-vagina owners who are committed to building a healthier, shame-free, and environmentally sustainable menstrual product industry.

Leafscore reported in Summer 2020 that the U.S. sends almost 20 billion pads, tampons and applicators to landfills each year. Millions of vagina owners menstruate each day, and we believe that each one of them deserves access to a hygienic and environmentally sustainable menstrual product experience.

The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic has given us a unique opportunity to broaden the scope of our Menstrual Health Network to an international scale through live virtual events. Our first of these network-building events:

Greening the Red: A Summit on Sustainable Menstruation will take place on May 26th, 2021 at 1pm-5pm EST via Zoom.

A Summit on Sustainable Menstruation

May 26th, 2021 at 1pm-5pm EST via Zoom

Menstrual Care Products are contributing to our waste and climate change problems. At this Summit we will convene working groups that examine:

What have we done historically?
What are we doing now?
What's the impact on the current climate crisis?
What do we want to be doing?
How do we get there?
Where do we go from here?

We will open with a panel of experts who will share context, wisdom, and the sense of urgency around this opportunity. Then we will break out into working groups, roll up our sleeves, and co-create solutions and next steps.
